Privacy Statement
The Catherine Wilson Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of people whose personal information is held by the Foundation through responsible information management. Any personal information provided to the Foundation is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Ontario Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable legislation.
Defining Personal Information
Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. This information can include an individual’s opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about, or related to the individual. Exceptions: Business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories, are not considered personal information.
Information Collected Directly From a Member or Grant Applicant
The Foundation will collect and record personal information voluntarily provided by grant applicants or members through correspondence, conversations or meetings. It can only be used by Foundation Board members to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally collected or for a use consistent with that purpose, unless the provider expressly consents otherwise. Such information may be used for the purpose of assisting the Foundation in adjudicating grant applications and managing the granting process.
The Foundation will not share, sell or make available any information with third parties unless:
- The information provider authorizes the Foundation to share the information;
- Sharing the information is necessary to process a donation or grant application;
PROCEDURES
- Grantees, applicants or other information providers may review the personal information the Foundation has recorded for that provider and only for that provider. Information providers may also provide written permission to the Foundation to permit another individual to review the personal information the Foundation has recorded for that provider, but only for that provider.
- If someone wishes to ask any questions about or have any concerns about the personal information the Catherine Wilson Foundation collects, the person to contact is the President, who is designated as the privacy officer.
